2nd September is celebrated as World Coconut Day to mark the establishment of the International Coconut Community (ICC), formerly known as the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC), in 1969 under the aegis of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP). Rebuttal from ICC Against Negative Campaign of Coconut

The International Coconut Community strongly objects to the proposal to boycott coconut products due to the alleged negative impact of its production systems on biodiversity and the unjustifiable propaganda regarding the use of monkeys to harvest coconuts.

The International Coconut Community (ICC1), a UN ESCAP intergovernmental organization representing 20 coconut producing countries, refutes to the articles published by Erik Meijaard regarding the claim that producing coconut oil is more harmful to biodiversity than producing palm oil.

Memorandum of Understanding between International Coconut Community and Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation

Memorandum of Understanding and Partnership Agreement executed between Dr. Jefina C. Alouw, Executive Director, International Coconut Community and Mr. Ronny Prasetyo Yuliantoro, Director, Non-Aligned Movement Centre for South-South Technical Cooperation, on Friday the 24th July at ICC Secretariat, Jakarta.

The main objective and purpose of this MoU is to express the willingness of the Parties to engage in effort to promote the competitiveness of coconut products as well as relevant activities to develop and expand relationships with countries that coconuts are source from and to provide a framework for cooperation and coordination between Parties in achievement of mutual goals.
